Donald Trump has once again turned his attention toward the music industry, this time aiming at the Grammy Awards and longtime host Trevor Noah. Following jokes made during the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, the US president publicly criticized the ceremony and threatened legal action against Noah.
The controversy began during the broadcast when Trevor Noah, reacting to Billie Eilish’s Song of the Year win, made a sharp political joke involving Trump. The remark quickly circulated online and drew an immediate response from the president, who later described the Grammys as “virtually unwatchable” and dismissed the show as a failure.
Trump went on to single out Noah in a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform, attacking the comedian’s credibility and performance as host. He accused Noah of spreading false information and suggested that lawyers would be involved, claiming he was prepared to sue the comedian over the comments made onstage. The post ended with Trump saying he looked forward to taking action against Noah.
As of the time of publication, neither Trevor Noah nor representatives for the Recording Academy have issued a public response to Trump’s remarks or legal threats.
Sunday night’s ceremony marked Noah’s sixth consecutive year hosting the Grammys. During the broadcast, he hinted that this would be his final time in the role and delivered a noticeably sharper monologue compared to previous years, leaning more heavily into political and cultural commentary.
Despite the backlash from the president, the Grammys proceeded without interruption and remained a major talking point online, with Trump’s reaction becoming one of the most discussed moments to emerge from this year’s awards show.
